Hello, everyone, welcome to Brush of Magic. I’m Ronn Stern. Thank you for joining us as we learn to paint an iconic and quintessential Star Wars character, the Sand Trooper; time lapsed into a 60-second video.
The Sand Trooper’s helmet, initially designed by artist Ralph McQuarrie, comprises several different geometric shapes. If you break the shapes down into ovals, circles, and triangle forms and study where these shapes align and intersect with one another, you can begin to get a firm grip on painting a stormtrooper helmet. Spend time looking at photos or models of stormtroopers and just look for the shapes. As a rule of art, studying things upside down often helps your brain see objects for what they are instead of what you think they are.
Remember, 10 minutes of painting a day, every day, is the best thing you can do to propel your art. Subscribe to learn more tips on how to paint your favorite characters.
