How to paint a Praetorian Guard, a 60-minute painting in 60 seconds.
Hello, everyone, welcome to Brush of Magic. I’m Ronn Stern. Thank you for joining us as we learn to paint the elite guards of the First Order Supreme Leader time lapsed into a 60-second video.
The praetorian guards are really impressive visual figures, in their striking red armor and helmets. When approaching a painting where one color is going to be so dominant, I try to consider what color theming will produce the best final image. In this case, I felt the muted grays and blacks of Snoke’s throne room could be cooled a bit more by adding a subtle blue to them, cooling off the background even more and making the red pop. Thinking about color in advance of a painting is an important part of creating an image with color unity.
